Steve,

I guess addressing a simplified version of RFC 33 (
http://mapserver.org/development/rfc/ms-rfc-33.html) would also be doable in
a short therm. I don't think we should completely remove whichItems, however
for the feature queries we could retrieve the features with all items and
store the feature itself in the result cache insted of the reference. (If we
keep on storing the reference as well, then we could maintain the backward
comp. with the older mapscript apps.)
