Frank: Don't we retain rights today regardless of the modification date on the file? I mean, just because we didn't modify maphash.c this year doesn't mean the copyright isn't valid today.

I'd vote for keeping all files with the same end year...

Daniel,

I think this is the reasonable, though slightly involved step if we
want to do something.

I feel that this would be misrepresenting our rights and should not
be done.

Overall I don't really feel that up to date copyright dates are very
valuable which is why I've stayed out of the conversation.  But if we
do it, we should be cautious not to assert rights we don't actually have.
(IMHO)
