[mapserver-dev] next maintenance release

I’d love to see the 7.2 release this year. I still have to merge the vector tile work (couple of conflicts to resolve + tests) but that can be done very soon. There is a remaining question in my mind about PHP support. Jeff’s Swig work is excellent and we also have a pull request that upgrades the existing PHP/MapScript code to work under new versions of PHP. I’m not sure what to do with that. Might be nice to have both if the pull request is indeed complete. That would probably help out current PHP/MapScript users while we could point new users to the Swig-based work.

Probably need to take a run through the other open pull requests to see if there are any that need discussion. Would be nice to get that list down to 0 with 7.0 and 7.2 releases.

Steve

Sorry to be a bit off topic, but do we have a plan to release 7.2 in the near future (ie. in this year) or we need to wait several months for that? I'm asking this, because I'm about to add a faster clustering approach as per https://github.com/mapserver/mapserver/issues/5503 in mapserver, but that should be incorporated in a production release within the foreseeable future.

I'm +1 on a 7.0.7 release in the next few weeks anyway.

Best regards,

Tamas

Would be this PR accepted too ?

I think it should be accepted, once one of us tests it locally; but then it is merging into master, not branch-7-0, likely because it is a change in functionality, so it would be applied to the 7.2 release, not 7.0.7. That's my take on it. -jeff

Agreed this one should go in 7.2 since it is a functional change.

And on the original question I'm +1 on a 7.0.7 release in the next few weeks.
