It fully encapsulates the query (if it is indeed a query being done) and would
be accessible through the layer’s pointer back to the parent mapObj

It could however be good as far as it is set before each whichShapes call (not only with the feature queries but in a normal drawing as well), and should also be exposed to the mapscript API.<br>
