Dear PSC,

MS RFC 69 contains the clustering part of the implementation taken out of RFC-68. This functionality is being implemented as a new layer data provider, but I intend to use that in such way which doesn't require to introduce a new connection type (called as single layer approach). However the implementation will support to compile this as a standalone provider as well (ie a plugin) in which this cluster layer is configured as a separate layer in addition to the source layer (called as multiple layer approach). The corresponfing ticket contains a mostly working implementation, see mapcluster.c for the details.

If you have any further suggestions or concerns, then let me know.

Best regards,

Tamas
