[mapserver-users] Question on command: "Mapserv -v"

Lists,
I met a problem with the mapserver 3.3 when trying using 
command "mapserv -v".

scs 100% mapserv -v 
This script can only be used to decode form results and 
should be initiated as a CGI process via a httpd server.

>From the web document "Raster Howto", it says that this command will 
return something as "mapserver version 3.5 OUTPUT=PNG OUTPUT=JPEG...."

I got different answer. Is it because they are different version?
