[Mapserver-users] wms and scalebar

The WMS interface only defines a method to retrieve maps (and a little
FeatureInfo) nothing around. Therefore the MapServer feature "scalebar"
cannot be used directly when accessing the server via WMS because it is not
a map. MapScript can do it because it does not restrict itself to be OGC
compatible.

It will probably be better to include the scalebar directly into your
client. To do that your client has to be able to create a scalebar itself.
As the client anyway exactly knows where in the world it is and how many
pixel it needs to display the map this should be no problem.

Betreff: [Mapserver-users] wms and scalebar

Hello

Is it possible to recieve a scalebar, when making a wms call to the wms
server ?

Or is the scalebar only useful for MapServer applications, that are not wms
applications ?
