Hi Calin,
    Maybe i should rephrase my question. I actually can display the =
shape i created on a map on it's own
ie. i ran the shape through the mapserver's workbench program and it =
produced a map with it's own extents.
The problem i run into is when i try to add this shp to another mapfile.
The map file which i'm trying to add this shape to has these extents:
EXTENT -2200000 -712631 3072800 3840000=20

So i guess these are not in pixels? The mapfile produced by ms =
workbench has the following extents:

extent 0.0 -131.0 161.0 0.0

Any help would be appctd.

Paul

  Hi Paul,

  A Image is defined as PIXELS... on LINES and COLUMS......usualy from 0 =
to X(max) and from 0 to Y(max), but not more than 1000 .... again =
PIXELS.=20
  In order to have the image in real world coordinates.... you MUST =
GEOREFERENCE the image.... details might be discussed later.=20
  I assume that you didn't georeferenced the image so the shape files =
are stored in 'local coordinate system', so in order to see it in =
MAPSERVER you have to modify the EXTENT declaration in MAP file, =
something like this:=20
    extent 0 1000 0 1000

  GOOD LUCK,
  Please check our MAPSERVER APLICATION at =

    Hi,=20
        I was wondering if anyone has some good tips on digitizing =
images, or a web site i could check out. I just finished creating a shp =
file from an image and am wondering why it's not displaying in =
mapserver(not sure if it needs to be georeferenced)?
    thx,
    Paul=20
