Symbols within a polygon area

I'd like to be able to show woodland on my maps as an outlined area
containing scattered tree images.  The best way to describe it,
really, is to point people at this UK OS map...

Is this possible in mapserver?  Ideally the tree symbols would be
vector symbols, rather than bitmaps.
