base map of north america

Forgive me if this is a bit off-topic, but can someone point me to a 
map of North America in ESRI shapefile format for our coastal ocean 
observing site (just a prototype at this point)?

I know there are free maps out there but I can't seem to find the right 
ones, and Canada is just too important to be missing. :)
