Time series persistence

If you used one layer for each time slice, and you set the filter for that layer dynamically, you might be able to do something like this.

For example, you could have three layers, 'current', 'older', and 'old'. If you passed in the filter expression for 'current', you would set it to the latest data. You would do the same with the other two layers, setting them to the older data sets.

You could then symbolize the older and old layers using transparency or color (fading from color to grey?) to make them appear as though they are fading away.

Subject: [UMN_MAPSERVER-USERS] Time series persistence

Hello there.

Is it possible to emulate persistence in a time series? I am showing rays hourly, it would be nice to let the older rays fade away slowly (like a radar ping).

I am using mapbuilder as the client.

Thank you in advance for the ideas.
