[mapserver-users] failed expression test

I'm attempting to run the tutorial found at http://biometry.gis.umn.edu/tutorial/ and have received an error -

msEvalRegex(): Regular Expression error.  String (/home/mapdata/example01.map?layer=airports?mode=map) failed expression test.

I read a previous post where it was suggested to use shp2img which comes with ms4w.  Is there a comparable product for linux platforms?
