FGS actually has a downloadable module for gmap (listed at 
http://dl.maptools.org/dl/fgs/releases/1.0/1.0.0/modules/) that you 
should be using with FGS (no configuring necessary).  If you have more 
FGS questions I would use the FGS mailing list.
