[mapserver-users] draw hatch pattern with image file (ex. gif, etc)

if your image contains a hatch, yes, it's possible, although you can't
change the color.
if you want to create a hatch, use:

symbol
 name "hatch"
 type hatch
end

layer
...
 style
   symbol "hatch"
   color 0 0 0
   angle 45 #hatch orientation
   width 1  #line width
   size 10  #spacing between lines
 end
end
