I assume that with php and MapScript you still need to have some client-side code (javascript or flash/Silverlight) for the draw and select tool.

That looks like what I'm after.  But at this time we're not using Open Layers.  Can this be adapted to a PHP/MapScript app?

You might want to look at OpenLayers.  www.openlayers.org<http://www.openlayers.org>

Here is a basic example that allows you to draw some vector features and then select them by drawing a box.

I am trying to create a polygon tool with PHP MapScript and JavaScript.  I'd like to allow the user to draw a polygon which will eventually be used to select map features.  This kind of thing probably has been done before.  Can anyone direct me to some code samples?
