Steve ... this is a common problem with PHP. Your main installation has
been <br>
upgraded to 5.3.8 but Mapscript was installed from another source and so
is <br>
still 'stamped' with the previous version number which must be some time
<br>
previously since its 2006 ;)<br>

Fixing the problem just involves either getting a pre-compiled copy of
mapscript <br>
for php5.3.8 or you may need to compile it yourself since SLES11 is obviously
<br>
not managing the version control properly. My own SUSE12.1 setup is pulling
the <br>
correct versions of the files.<br>
