Venka-

We can do 10 T-shirts easily -- please let me know sizes, shipping address, and due date and I'll get them to you.

The $1000 aid for the show seems a worthy cause, but it it above my spending limit as VisCom chair. I'll bring this up at our meeting on Thursday. [Question for VisCom members to consider: we still don't have a formal budget; should we try again to make one, continue to react as events happen and hope for the best, or..?]

Subject: [VisCom] OSGeo Promotions/Workshop in Vietnam

Hi VisCom members,

GIS-IDEAS 2006 (http://wgrass.media.osaka-cu.ac.jp/gisideas06) where we
have more that 10 papers (can be viewed for the web-site) related to
OSGeosoftware. We are doing a pre-conference OSGeo workshop
(See program below) and also plan to discuss about Vietnam OSGeo
Chapter. Atleast 10 volunteers are willing to walk-around with OSGeo
T-Shirts at the workshop and also during the conference. I await from
VisCom about possible support for this event. GIS-IDEAS is organized
on a shoe-string budget and sponsorship, exhibition booth cost a tiny
fraction of that in other conferences. About 200 particpants are
expected (50 from overseas and 150 from Vietnam)

It would be nice if Viscom could support the workshop/promotion
(about US$1000 for printing OSGeo brochures, burning CD and
display banner etc.).

Some T-shirt donation for OSGeo volunteers would also be most
welcome.

Kind regards

Venka
