Numbers of volunteer cartographers worldwide in OpenStreetMap has reached 240,000. They are trying to create a digital map of
every street in every city and village on the planet. It is a kind of grass-roots Wikipedia for maps that is transforming how map data
are collected, shared and used — from the desktop to smart phones to car navigation, according to an article published in
Los Angeles Times.
