During the planning and lobbying that went into the creation of what became the then Federal Government's Spatial Action Agenda, lobbyists were advised that the Government did not want to deal with a myriad of vendors and special interest groups that represented the spatial industry.

This led to the formation of:


 *   (A)SIBA representing Spatial Businesses operating in our region;
 *   Spatial Sciences Institute (SSI), amalgamating AIC, AIS, AURISA, Remote Sensing etc professional bodies into a single voice representing Professionals.
 *   I think that there were also others

This led to the development of an effective industry policy by having fewer (distracting) views and voices.

Sorry Bruce, I'm aware of SIBA, rather I am not aware of the issues found out during the spatial action agenda and how these relate to the purpose of having an umbrella group like an OSGeo local chapter.
