Thank you

Dear Madi, Maxi, all,

I would like to nominate Alessandro (Ale) Frigeri as a candidate for the Copernicus Medal.
Motivation: Ale has been a regular at EGU for a long time. He has also been involved in FOSS for over a decade. He has been part of the initial FOSS-related activities within ESSI. His scientific work in Planetology, based on OSGeo-tools, has made him author/co-author an expectionally large number of articles in the Geophysical Research Abstracts (EGU OA Journal), thereby making an outstanding positive impact on Geoscience/Planetology (using FOSS) within EGU and beyond.

Best,
Peter

> Please find hereinafter a call for proposing candidates for the Copernicus Medal. We were discussing with some of you about the opportunity to propose names of "champions" in open source. It would be a big publicity for open source and open geo science to have it rewarded in a popular arena like this. If you agree, please do suggest candidates directly to Copernicus, or we could agree on one/two candidates and write a collective email in their support. What do you think? Please note that the deadline is 31 Oct.
