[OpenLayers-Dev] OSGeo mentor for Erik Hazzard?

Hi,

Just throwing my 2 cents in here (from the side-line):

Both OLON and OWS are not OGC standards, although OWS might become one.
The OLON implementation is nearly complete (I presume) and the OWS one
is not (I presume too).

I'm curious what is missing in the OWS spec and/or implementation that
is needed to be able to store and manipulate a complete status of the
map, needed for this SOC project.

What path is preferred: the more flexible and close to home (OLON) or
the more standards based but limited (OWS) one?

My gut feeling now is: choose OLON and if we want an OWS import/export,
one can build upon Lorenzo's work in the (near) future and maybe use
OLON as an intermediate form.
