Right. I mean obviously the 25% is designated towards administrative bits and whatnot, <br>and one wouldn't consider a 25% of $12000 (to ol) at the same level as a 100% of $3000<br>(to osgeo), but it seems like spiritually speaking you're still "part of the family". <br>

</div>The funds which OSGeo receives are not -- per the documentation of the<br>
program -- designed to support OSGeo directly, but instead to accomodate<br>
for the fact that things like maintaining a bank account cost money, and<br>
projects themselves also consume resources like hosting, marketing, etc.<br>

Put more directly, Funding OpenLayers to the tune of, say, $12k does<br>
not get a sponsor the same position within OSGeo as sponsoring OSGeo to<br>
the tune of $3k, even though $3k is taken by OSGeo for the general<br>
maintenance of the project sponsorship funds: Sponsoring OpenLayers for<br>
$12k does *not* make you an Associate Sponsor of OSGeo.<br>
