Comment:

 I agree that center shouldn't be used by applications. However this does
 not fix the issue that the documentation at the link I provided in the
 original ticket is misleading. It has the same layout and the same
 introduction text as the API doc and _nothing_ hints to the fact that the
 content of it is _not_ meant for webapplications that want to use the
 public API of openlayers.
