It really depends on what you mean by security. It's quite tricky to  
do this on the client given the very nature of what openlayers does  
(ie makes asynchronous requests to open web servers), so most  
security (eg limiting requests by IP address, limiting which layers  
can be viewed by clients is handled on the server side.
