I got that error with FF 3 and OL 2.6 when I was initially trying the
development version of the Measure.js control. My memory is not as
good as I wish, but what I do recall is that I found the measure
control example on the OpenLayers web site to work with FF 3, but my
local copy of OL gave the error that "vectors were not supported by my
browser". I then applied the measure.patch to my local copy of OL 2.6
and the measure tool then worked great (no more "vectors not supported
by your browser" errors).

Sorry to be so vague, but it sounds like the same problem and that's
all I can remember.
