Hi

OpenLayers layer switcher does not support that.

MapFish, which based on OpenLayers and Ext, does provide that. See
<http://demo.mapfish.org/mapfishsample/trunk/examples/tree/tree_automatic.html>
for an example (un-compressed js) and
<http://demo.mapfish.org/mapfishsample/trunk/demos/c2corg/search.html>
for a more complete demo. In the demo there's only one sub-layer, but
you get the idea.
