[OpenLayers-Users] kaMap -> OpenLayers

Hi,

I'm switching this site: http://local.genieknows.com from using kaMap,
to open layers. I have noticed a significant speed decrease in my tests,
and it seems as though the instance running on
http://www.openstreetmap.org suffers the same. What sorts of things can
I do (either from api, or by editing OL code) to make OL as fast as
possible? (while preserving functionality of equivalence or better to kaMap)
