[OpenLayers-Users] Firefox 3.5.3 not displaying controls

Andreas, thank you for the ideas.

I solved the problem (viewing OpenLayers map viewer in FF 3.5.3 on WinXP) without knowing why the problem happened...

THIS SOLVED THE PROBLEM: I found that if I uninstall Firefox--and this is important: remove all local settings/information associated with Firefox during the uninstall--then re-install Firefox, OpenLayers will then properly function.

THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM: On the other hand, if I un-install FireFox but retain the local settings data, then re-install Firefox, the problem persists. Also, attempting to uninstall all Add-Ons did not solve the problem. Likewise, trying different language versions of FF did not solve the problem.

I am not clear if the problem was caused by a registry issue or simply some setting/file/add-on data in %TEMP%.

Can it be that you changed the User Agent string on your XP workstation
to something that makes OpenLayers think it is using Internet Explorer?
Or that your browser is configured to override some CSS properties?

Regards,
Andreas.
