[OpenLayers-Users] Requesting Remote Data / OpenLayers.Request.GET

Hello,

I am referring to this http://docs.openlayers.org/library/request.html site.
I wanted to use OpenLayers.Request.GET to retrieve geo coordinates from
nominatim. The problem is that requesting data from a remote site would be
cross domain scripting which is not allowed. I am a bit puzzeled why
openLayers offers such a function. How am I suppose to use it?
