Hi, 

why do you need this?
I would think that it is difficult to know which popup if you have more than two 
popups.

As said in your other post you can use remove or destroy at WMSGetFeatureInfo. 
Have you took a look at examples page of OL? Or searching mailing list?

actually change of mind, I need the popup to close when i hover over another
popup point
