[OpenLayers-Users] "Kinetic" effect while moving a map programmatically

I have seen the example of "kinetic dragging".

Can this effect also be achieved when the map is recentered 
programmatically? So that map.setCenter(...) will slow down at the 
beginning and at the end of the scrolling?
