[OpenLayers-Users] Place own controls on the map

[vGIS]

I'd like to place a own control on the map. Tryed it with CSS and it seems
like the map "overdraws" my control. The control is a drop down Box, to
chose layers and display, dependent on chosen the layer, tools.

If thats not that simple, is it possible to move the "default editing
toolbar" outside the map?
