Phil,

Thank you very much for your reply.  I had sort of come to the conclusion
that it wasn't using the proxy, but I was not sure how to fix that.  I tried
including the "/cgi-bin/proxy.py?url=" in the url for the printProvider, but
it did not change anything.  I will take a look at the docs you have
recommended.

It sounds to me like you have set the post up explicitly so the XHR request
is being sent directly mydomain.com and not via the proxy. You have to work
through OL components  to get the automatic redirect to proxy and I dont
think the printprovider will do that. Add override-ext-ajax maybe in your
build? (Geoext/docs/builder/v1.0.html)
