The only thing that changes with <span style="font-family:arial, sans-serif;font-size:13px;border-collapse:collapse">overview.maximizeControl(); is that the square that indicates the visible zone of the base layer in the overview map is centered in the overview's map, but I think that the real center of the base layer, is still in the top left of the overview... </span><div>

And in each refresh of overview map zoom level the diference between both centers increases..</div>

I think it is a bug in Openlayers. I described it here<br>

if you call the maximizeControl Function after you add the Control and set<br>
spherical Mercator to true it will work.<br>
<br>
map.addControl(overview);<br>
overview.maximizeControl();<br>
