Otherwise it sounds like you want a layer/feature layer of some kind that will connect to whatever application you have that will render the time-series photographs. It wouldn't be too hard to have a link to your application launcher in some geo-metadata...</div>

The photos will show certain location over time and maybe a bit of text about the location.<br>
<br>I have Ubuntu, Openlayers, geoext, and Postgres/Postgis<br><br>Has anyone done anything similar or knows of such a mapping app which I could use as a case study?<br><br>Anything would help, doesn´t matter how small or big,<br>
