      You could try to define your own arrow symbol.  There's one
      defined  [here], see line 1 :<br>
        OpenLayers.Renderer.symbol.arrow = [0,2, 1,0, 2,2, 1,0, 0,2]<br>

         I haven't tried it, but it could do the trick.<br>
