Way too much rumor here. Neither does Boundless lead ol3, nor does it own Leaflet. ol3, short for OpenLayers 3, is the successor of OpenLayers 2, and is mostly being developed by the same individuals as OpenLayers 2, backed by the same organizations. Boundless is just one of these organizations. Regarding Leaflet, you are totally wrong. If you want to play the company-owns-project game, which is totally inappropriate in my opinion, then it would be Mapbox, but not Boundless, who owns Leaflet.

Having said that, ol3 is still under development. During the ongoing beta phase, some more functionality will be added, documentation completed, and build and integration stories improved. ol3 was not meant to be backwards compatible with OpenLayers 2. The strategy is to look forward rather than back, leveraging latest browser technologies and building a mapping library for the future. OpenLayers 2 will still be maintained for a while, so no need to worry.

An update to http://openlayers.org/ should soon go online in a few minutes, addint a link to the http://ol3js.org/ website in the "Towards OpenLayers 3" section.

honestly ol3 pays lil attention to backward compatibility, the docs come up short and its list is only a google groups.

...done. now can we add a bigger header on openlayers.org saying how it is related (or not) to ol3js.org?
