 be enough or users will have in any case to run gdal16.bat from the
 osgeo4w shell before?

 For what it's worth, I made a *dirt* experiment that gave good results: I
 copied fwtools gdal utilities executables into the osgeo4w gdal16 binary
 folder (overwriting the files): they works fine under Seven with both the
 command line and from the gdal tools plugin, no crashes at all.
