New description:

o-help.bat from [wiki:pkg-shell] is unaware of the gdal16 or gdal17
packages, or any other package under ./apps which might add directories to
path. Consequently o-help is not as helpful as it could be.

It would be relatively straight forward to add IF..EXIST tests for
apps/gdal16. Perhaps a more generalized algorithm could be devised to
automatically search anything in %path% under %osgeo4w_root% without too
 much work?

Comment:

I've decided this isn't worth pursuing. I've not thought of a way of
reliably chasing down which other o4w dirs in path are worth tripping
through and listing commands of. Calling o-help is slow enough as it is
already on initial load without adding more dirs to process. Also the
 gdal-XX-version are not mainstream anyway.
