 tested here on a osgeo4w 64bit-win10 box with

 {{{
  lasinfo (libLAS 1.8.0 with GeoTIFF 1.4.0 GDAL 1.11.3 LASzip 2.2.0)
 }}}


 lasinfo works with this
 [http://www.appliedimagery.com/downloads/sampledata/Serpent%20Mound%20Model%20LAS%20Data.las
 data1];

 but lasinfo doesnt't work with this
 [http://courses.ncsu.edu/mea582/common/media/01/0793_016.las.zip data2].

 on an old win 32box lasinfo on data1 doesn't work.
