Hello Song and Prof Yu,

I will be very glad to help you set up the translations of
OSGeo-Live into Chinese.

Our translation process is described here:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Live_GIS_Translate

The first thing you will need to do is provide me with your osgeo
user ids of anyone wishing to translate. If you don't have a user
id, create one here:
https://www2.osgeo.org/cgi-bin/ldap_create_user.py
I will then provide you with access to subversion.

I suggest that one of you translate one project's Project Overview,
and I can help you walk step by step through the process. You will
then be able to help mentor others.

I'll also put out a call for Chinese translators, and see if we can
find others in the world who would like to help.

Glad to receive your email !
To promote open source geospatial software, we did find some
volunteers from universities and finished translating mapserver
and qgis documentation since last December. But there is still
more not done. For OSGEO-Live translations, we may start at a
limited version. We would be very happy if you could make further
introduction to us.

About FOSS4G 2012, we will seek your more help on conference
preparation based on your excellent experiences of FOSS4G2009 in
Sydney.
Best,
I forward you message to Prof. Yu at China Universtiy of Minning
and Technology, his gis team did a lot of work about open source
software documentation work. You would meet him if could come to
us in 2012.
Song,
With many Chinese likely to be coming to FOSS4G 2012, I expect
it will be an excellent opportunity to find volunteers to
translate the OSGeo-Live Project Overviews into Chinese, which
in turn should make it easier for Chinese to quickly learn
about the breadth of OSGeo Software.

You can see the contents of the OSGeo-Live documentation here:
http://live.osgeo.org/en/overview/overview.html
As a first interation, you might decide to limit translations
to the Project Overviews, and leave translating Quickstart
overviews until a later release.

How do you feel about this? Do you think that you should be
able to find volunteers to do this translating work?

If interested, I can introduce you and fellow translators to
the translating process.

Feel free to forward this email on to others if you wish, or
CC others in your response.
