<p>Ok,<br>
I based on your recommendation, I vote to include pycsw. Can you please update the Project Overview asap so there is time to translate.</p>

Hi Cameron,<br>
<br>
Yes, pycsw 1.0 is stable and passes all OGC CITE tests. Additional
to CSW 2.0.2, it also includes support for:<br>
<br>
- INSPIRE Discovery Services<br>
- CSW-T<br>
- FGDC profile<br>
- NASA DIF<br>
<br>
The upcoming releases will include:<br>
- JSON output<br>
- WMS harvest support for APISO<br>
- ogc:Function support<br>
- ebRIM profile support and many more<br>
<br>
Also, work has recently been done to enable pycsw as the csw
endpoint for geonode:<br>
<a href="https://github.com/GeoNode/geonode/wiki/GNIP-5----Abstract-OGC%3ACSW-Functionality" target="_blank">https://github.com/GeoNode/geonode/wiki/GNIP-5----Abstract-OGC%3ACSW-Functionality</a><br>
<a href="https://github.com/tomkralidis/geonode/tree/md_csw" target="_blank">https://github.com/tomkralidis/geonode/tree/md_csw</a><br>
<br>
As for deployment, apart from us using it, there has been interest
from users and organizations (especially in Europe due to INSPIRE
support), but there is no finished portal to our knowledge at this
moment using pycsw. It is difficult to track such deployments.<br>
<br>
We feel that pycsw is mature enough for the Live DVD and that new
users will be attracted to use it.<br>

It sounds like you think pywcs is now a stable application? I
notice that you have been doing CITE tests, which is a positive
thing.<br>

Has pywcs been deployed into production into more than one
location?<br>
<br>
Have there been users other than yourselves (Tom and Angelos) who
have installed and deployed pycsw? Who?<br>

Thank you Cameron for the suggestion, <br>

We would be happy to include stable version 1.0 of pycsw to the
disk :)<br>

This version is already tested in OSGeoLive 5.5beta1 and works
fine.<br>
In case we decide to officially include it, we just need to link
the documentation files and translate.<br>

In preparing for osgeolive 5.0, I suggested that pycsw was
probably not mature enough to be included in OSGeo-Live.<br>

I'm interested to understand how the project has matured since
then.<br>
If the project is ready, we will need to quickly review and
update the documentation so it can be translated.<br>

It is great to see interest from pycsw in joining the
OSGeo-Live stable of quality applications.<br>
<br>
My initial feeling is that it would be great to include
pywcs in a future release of OSGeo-Live, but as pywcs is
still only at a 0.1 release, without wide uptake yet, it is
premature to include pywcs into the next OSGeo-Live release.<br>
<br>
I believe that we have developed a reputation that if an
application has been deployed on OSGeo-Live, then someone
can expect that it has been deployed in many different
locations, and tested by many different organisations.
Hence, users can be confident that they will be unlikely to
uncover any bugs by running standard operations.<br>
<br>
Feel free to suggest that I have mis-read the project, or
argue otherwise.<br>
<br>
One option that we could potentially consider is including a
pywcs install script on the DVD, but not call the install
script from our main.sh install script. This would mean that
pywcs would not be installed on OSGeo-Live, but it would be
easy to run the pywcs install script and get pywcs installed
if required by an expert. Would this be of interest?<br>
