<div class="moz-cite-prefix">Hi Angelos:<br>
Again thanks for the tips.<br>
I'm re-reading the wiki page on the build process. A few more
questions, if I may, just to be sure I understand the steps:<br>
1- I understand that any ubuntu (or Debian?) system can be used
now to do a build? Just grab and run the bootstrap.sh, which pulls
down all the gisvm scripts etc. Is that right? This I do only
once?<br>
<br>
2- Then I run the ~/gisvm/bin/build_chroot.sh to get a default
osgeo-live_xxx.iso under my <user>/livedvdtmp directory?<br>
<br>
3- Now I can alter scripts in the ~/gisvm/bin directory
(especially the inchroot.sh) to add/remove whatever I need? And If
I now re-run the build_chroot.sh, my customizations will be
applied?<br>
<br>
4- I see that the whole <user>/livedvdtmp/edit directory is
emptied after each run of build_chroot.sh. Does it make sense to
leave that directory as is, in order to ease bandwidth use on each
re-run of the build_chroot?<br>
<br>
<br>
Cheers,<br>
Micha<br>

<br>
<br>
This issue was not resolved and we moved to the Ubuntu official
method to create iso, without installing everything on a VM first.
<br>
<br>
So you have 2 options:
<br>
1. Use the new method and create a script for every custom
application you need to install, configure and then include it in
the inchroot.sh script. This will not need a VM.
<br>
2. Create a VM as a base and try remastersys (using the GUI it
provides <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.remastersys.com/">http://www.remastersys.com/</a> ) or similar tools (eg.
Ubuntu Builder <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://code.google.com/p/ubuntu-builder/">http://code.google.com/p/ubuntu-builder/</a> ). Both
are nice applications and hopefully you can get them working.
<br>
Please use the supported methods for those tools (as described in
their documentation) instead of the build_iso.sh
<br>
<br>
Best,
<br>

Somehow I had the idea that the previous remastersys method was
still working on
<br>
version 6.0.
<br>
<br>
So what option do I have to create a customized iso now? If I
understand
<br>
correctly, the build_chroot.sh script recreates the whole
default osgeo-live,
<br>
rather than using the data and packages installed in the current
VM.
