Please don't wait for the next deadline to work on including
Hale in

the OSGeo live release. The major technical work seems to be
providing
<br>
a version that does not include the jre and uses openjdk
provided by
<br>
ubuntu. I tried downloading hale from your site and removed the
jre
<br>
folder. I've done a few preliminary tests (on debian) and I
didn't see
<br>
differences compared to the included jre. It is perhaps a good
idea to
<br>
test this a bit more, and run your unit tests against openjdk as
well.
<br>
If any changes need to be made it is better that these are
tested
<br>
thoroughly and included in the project rather than branching of
for
<br>
OSGeo live.
