[Ottawa_users] Proposal to expand Chapter

I've been watching this discussion and have stayed out of it until now,
as i'm a delinquent member of the ottawa chapter (I'm usually in toronto
on thursdays). The greatest benefit of the ottawa chapter is the
monthly meetings.

In fact i would hazard to suggest that our chapter could be called a
social club....look through our mailing list archives and the majority
of the traffic is the organizing of the next meeting. And this is a
good thing...face to face meetings with like minded people over a beer
is a great thing. Morphing into a national/canadian chapter would
change this dynamic and possibly not for the best.

A canadian chapter is a good idea, for the reasons Tyler, Daniel, Tom
and others have mentioned. I don't think our chapter should turn into a
canadian chapter but, there is no reason why we couldn't spear head the
creation of a national chapter, that is more administratively focused
than socially focused.

just my 2 cents.

Shawn
