Yesterdays election in the Philippines was notable for several reasons
– not least of which was the introduction of a new electronic voting
system in which Ubuntu has played a vital – but invisible – role
managing the Linux-based ROMs that do the actual counting.

Sadly the introduction of computerized vote counting was marred by
repeated machine failures and large-scale errors, the most prominent of
which resulted in the Presidential front-runner Benigo Aquino being
unable to cast his vote due to a machine malfunction.

Either way the use of Ubuntu in this situation was neither the culprit
or the cause but demonstrated once again the versatile deployment
capabilities of Ubuntu.

Thanks to Paul :)
