Tradicionalmente os sistemas de referenciação geográfica separam a
componente planimétrica, referida a um elipsóide, da altimétrica,

Os sistemas de coordenadas cartesianas terrestres é que são de
facto 3D, como é o caso do WGS84 (EPSG:4978) ou dos ITRF. Apesar
de não fazerem parte da lista exportada para o PROJ, podem ser
usados com a opção +proj=geocent, no comando cs2cs.<br>
