Olá,<br>Também me tinha apercebido das discrepâncias nas áreas de uso da base de dados EPSG. <br>Os dados para a Europa foram recentemente alterados e já estão no registry EPSG (mas não na base de dados Access), exceto uma correção recente à área 3537. Embora estejam mais corretos que os anteriores, ainda há um pequeno erro nas coordenadas limítrofes de Portugal Continental.<br>
A explicação que me foi transmitida é a seguinte:<br><br><p class="MsoNormal"><i><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">We

</span></span></span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">The
bounding box data is derived from the polygons, to ensure consistency between
the two.</span></i></p>
<p><i><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif""><span>2.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"">
</span></span></span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">Onshore
polygons were constructed from publicly-available <u>small scale</u>
sources. Onshore boundaries were based on an ESRI dataset. Offshore boundaries
were based on data from the Flanders Maritime Institute’s VLIZ Maritime
Boundaries v5 Geodatabase (<a href="http://www.vliz.be/vmdcdata/marbound/download.php" target="_blank"><span style="color:windowtext">http://www.vliz.be/vmdcdata/marbound/download.php</span></a>).
Our understanding is that the VLIZ data is based on international agreement
when such agreement exists, else on the theoretical boundary construction
provisions in the Law of the Sea convention (median lines).</span></i></p>
<p><i><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif""><span>3.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"">
</span></span></span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">Because
the source scale was small, the data accuracy is approximate. Differences of
about 0.02 degrees compared to detailed national boundary data can be expected.
For the purposes that the EPSG area data was compiled – showing the
applicability of geodetic systems – we think this is adequate. We do not intend
to micromanage any such inaccuracies in the polygon boundaries or the derived
bounding boxes if the errors are within this 0.02 degrees limit.</span></i></p>

<br>Há duas pequenas discrepâncias nas áreas 1294 e 3537, mas estão dentro da tolerância que o OGP estabeleceu e consequentemente não as irão alterar.<br>(Não sei como é que os dados são propagados do EPSG para o <a href="http://spatialreference.org">spatialreference.org</a>, pelo que eventualmente poderá demorar algum tempo até as alterações lá chegarem)<br>
