As the canonical formats seem to be stable now, I'll extend the JDBC
classes to recognize the new canonical text format (at least for reading
from the DB, for writing we can still use the old format for the next
days, this also maintains compatibility).

I think I'll grab some of the wkb4j code for this, as wkb4j is LGPL,
this is no license problem.

I'll post my progress here.
