[postgis-devel] SQL comment generation

Mark, Paul, Kevin et al,

I think this got lost in the shuffle. Does any one have problems with me
committing a postgis_comments.sql file to 1.3.4. I will take the responsibility of regenerating the .sql as the doc book changes are made and making sure the comments install on 1.3.4 build. I think we have a lot so far that would be very
useful to people wading their way thru using PostGIS as a quick reference in the trenches. I can also tack it on in the
instructions for 1.3.4 (after loading spatial_ref_sys.sql).

For 1.4 yah probably makes sense to have it more integrated as part of the whole load
process.

Thanks,
Regina

Sorry to bore everyone with this when everyone is working on really important things.
It just occurred to me the comments generated by the xsltproc work fine in postgis 1.3.4. Would anyone have an issue
with me just committing it to 1.3.4 as a .sql file similar to spatial_ref_sys.sql and people can run it if they feel like it?

As far as including in lwpostgis.sql.in.c in trunk, I haven't really explored that. The comments part makes sense, but I'm not convinced including the spatial_ref_sys.sql in the include is the right thing to do since many people fiddle with that table a lot, e.g. add new entries etc. I'm not sure the ramifications when you do a full dump and upgrade to a major version.

Thanks,
Regina
